de Young College Night Outreach Program Spring 2009 Satellite Exhibition a joint partnership with The Art Institute of California-San Francisco Call For Art Beyond Warhol's Imagination A Tribute to Andy Warhol Currently we are seeking artists from the interdisciplinary arts from San Francisco Bay Area colleges and universities to participate in the spring 2009 deYoung College Night Satellite Exhibition entitled Beyond Warhol’s Imagination. Beyond Warhol’s Imagination will pay tribute to Andy Warhol and is also inspired by the de Young Museum’s featured exhibition: Warhol Live, which runs from February 14th to May 17th 2009. Warhol Live explores the musical influences and its impact on Warhol’s art and persona throughout his art career. For this College Night satellite exhibition, prospective artists’ work/s should look at Warhol’s myriad of works, themes and subject matter through the lens of today’s emerging artists. Their works should present a contemporary interpretation of Warhol’s art and art practices. Like Warhol, artists should look to popular culture for their themes and subject matter. Artists’ works should bring into illumination notable events, high profile personality and popular consumer products that reflect and characterize today’s society. Although mirroring society through art, artists’ works should vividly capture and express Warhol’s artistic fervor and sensibility. We encourage creativity, innovation and thought provoking art from all prospective artists. This is a great opportunity to make a contribution and showcase your work/s at San Francisco's most prestigious Fine Arts Museum. Beyond Warhol’s Imagination will open at the Art Institute of California Art Gallery on April 24th and runs through June 5th 2009.
